I’m happy to nominate you for the One Lovely Blogger Award.
Thank you, Meredith for the nomination. I appreciate it.
Love your blog, btw do you know there is a Maureen Umeh who is a news anchor in Washington DC
Nope, Juju. I didn’t know that. Should I consider that information significant?
Hmmm significant? not really then again I know a Becky Umeh a singer and dancer also in DC.
I guess Umeh isn’t ‘that’ special. I used to think it was a sort of rare name.
Must be special since you have some remarkable people with the name. Is Umeh Anambra, Imo or Enugu?
Mine’s Anambra. But I’ve found some in Enugu too. Are you Ibo?
My mom is.
From Anambra? We’re good people.
No doubt, I was in Nnewi for Ojukwu’s funeral. I love Igboland.
Great. Somehow I pictured you as Yoruba. I’m glad to be wrong.
Lol I am Yoruba on my father’s side and grew up Yoruba. So what is it about Yoruba men that you are glad to be wrong?
Just my guess. Call it tribal profile. I haven’t had any problem with Yoruba people. I haven’t met many of them.
I take it you live in the east, Awka am guessing. I believe Yorubas and Igbos do get along nicely considering the rate of intermarriages between both people.
Yeah, I believe so too. I don’t live in Awka though. Onitsha actually.
You know I was going to guess Onitsha. Hmm how close to Nkpo?
Closer to main market than Nkpor.
No doubt Onitsha is grimy so why ain’t you across the river in Asaba?
Cos this is where I live? Besides it isn’t that grimy.
I suppose, just figured Onitsha was more commercial then again I haven’t spent that much time in the city. The last time I passed through the main highway connecting the Niger Bridge from the NE was under construction, so that might account for the griminess I was referring to.
You’re probably right but it’s harmattan season around the corner. The griminess won’t be far behind.
Now that it is the raining season how is the water level at the Niger, have a shoot there next month
I wouldn’t know. Haven’t been across the bridge all year. But rainy season is over. Prolly just one more rain to usher in the harmattan season. Water level should be fine. I haven’t heard otherwise.
Ok cool
😉
You have a nice blog and you write well. Nigeria is a lovely country because its people are warm, kind and open-minded. Cheers 🙂
Thanks, Dilip. That’s actually very sweet.
You had me at Tom Clancy fan, look forward to reading more of your posts. I’m an American and the only things I hear about Nigeria are generally negative or derogatory due to our lazy ass media.
I get that a lot. And some of our Lazy ass citizens who can’t pick up a newspaper to read or turn on the “national” news channel think the high point of their argument is “I heard it on CNN!” just because. they could afford cable subscription.
Be seeing you, Skipah.
Maureen,
Thanks for the follow! I don’t know Nigeria first-hand. Only through books (novels), former students, colleagues at the seminary where I worked, and my husband’s travels. I just read your piece about the up-coming election, now the past election. Maybe you’ll do a post-election piece? I pray this finds you well.
Cheers!
Elouise
I have been planning to, Elouise. I’ve just been really swamped with stuff. I’ll try and make time though. Thanks for the visit.
I know the feeling! No pressure. Just whenever you’re ready. 🙂
Got it.
🙂
Thank you for liking “Baby Birds” and “Wild Seeds.” After reading some of your posts, it sounds like serving in the National Youth Service Corps is really challenging. Good luck and best regards to you. 🙂
Apart from being challenging, it’s also kind of fun. You get to interact with various people from the 250 ethnic groups we have in Nigeria.
I am glad to know that you are having some fun too. 🙂
I love what you have going here! I’m rubbish at about me’s and yours I found quite a nice, simple way of doing it! I commend you! May I use your categories?
Feel free to use it.
Thank you!
You’re welcome
Nice meeting you … and cheers to your love for humor, intellect, purple, and music.
Nice to meet you too.
Oh God! You’re Oge Umeh Federal Osha?? 😮 OMGawd!!! Woman! Geez how did I not know it was you!
Hmmm. I’ve never met anyone I knew on here. Which Uju are you, pls? We could totally blog hang.
Ugh I must totally look different now 😀
Okay, we were of the same set. Uju Okonkwo, Games prefect?
It’s so nice to finally find a familiar face here. I’ve been smiling all day 🙂
I do remember there were two of you. Games Prefect? Ugggghhhhh
lol it’s aite if you don’t remember much. I’ve been thinking your pix looked familiar but didn’t place it until i saw your name. Remembered you looved Government 😀
Hahaha! I sure did. You were in F?
Lol yes. F
Thanks so much for the visit to my blog today and following along. Am quite flattered! Popped over to have a quick look (my life is chaos again right now) at your site……I love how your posts are all so personal (about you) and short enough to take in quickly (did I mention my life is chaos?) I think we’re going to enjoy each other on here!
Chaos is good. Order is overrated anyhow. We just like to think we got a hang of it. You’re welcome to my space. Tea or Coffee?
i am watching you too, with my leathery wings and black smile
Black smile?! Creepy. Creep-ier than the that wide smile in dark Knight.
I can do creepy
I don’t like again 😔😔😔😔
Lol. I can write all sorts, from romance to horror.
I want romance!!! 😊😊😊😊😊😊
serious?
Yes nah! What do you think Pretty Woman and Maid in Manhattan are about?
erm.. Plenty of work on my table at the moment, will fit the romance in somewhere, but na later. did you get the email add?
No. Where?
drop yours, and i will delete it once ii take note of it
